Disco music singer Runa Laila
Runa Laila was born in Bangladesh 17 November 1952. She is a Bangladeshi Singer. She started her career from Pakistan film industry and sings in Ghazals also. Runa made a pair with singer Ahmed Rushdi after replacing singer Mala. Runa has done playbacks for movies in Bangladesh, India and Pakistani film industries between late 60s' 70s' and the early 80's, Runa best known number is Dama Dam Mast Qalandar. Runa enrolled in a dance school where Runa learnt Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and Kathakali. Runa early music training was done under Piya Rang and Ustad Habibiddin khan when her family lived in Karachi (Pakistan) in 1960. According to Runa, Manzur Hussain also influenced her career by teaching her flaws in her beautiful voice work on. Runa made her public start as a singer at the age only of 6 years. Runa recorded her 1st disc for a Pakistani film called "Jugun" Runa was influenced by playback singer Ahmed Rushhdi as she followed his way of singing and also made a pair with him later on. Runa Laila debut appearing on the Zia Mohyuddin show Karachi(Pakistan) TV stage show. She later did songs for Pakistani film in the 70s such as Umrao Jan Ada. Laila acting with the Bengali film "shilpi" opposite Alamgir. The film was the Hollywood remake film " The Bodyguard". Runa sang playback for movies in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Runa is very popular for her songs like Dama Dum Mast Galandar which has been sung by other artists and Mera Babu Chhabeela Main to Nachoon Gi. Runa entered into the Bollywood film playback with Ek Se Badhkar Ek in 1974. Runa also sang in Gharonda. After that Runa withdrew from Mumbai. Some of the music directors she has work with are Jaidey, Kalyanji Anandji, Laxmilkant - Pyarelal and Bappi Lahiri. Runa Laila has also sung Bangladeshi song as Sadher Lau Banailo Morey, Shilpi Ami, Tomaderi Gan Shonabo and Bondhu Tin Din tor Barite Gelam.
Runa Laila had elder sister was named Dina Laila and a younger brother named Syed Ali Murad. Runa has been married 3 times and she has a one daughter named Tani Laila. Runa's sister Dina married to Pakistani politician from Sindh, Makhdoom Amin Fahim would have become a singer as well but had to give up singing when she married. Runa LAila win many awards
